Day
Well, this was just fantastic. Catching up with old friends at their lovely home, meeting their bright-as-buttons daughters and chatting away till the early hours. What a great way to round off the trip. When we got in the car to drive back to the hotel (Em had very kindly volunteered to drive - thank you!) all I needed to say was “I told you you’d like them”.
This is a first: the flog has a direct feedback mechanism! The Blackmores had read about our foodie exploits so far, and decided that what we needed was some light fish and fresh veggies and salad. Oh, they were so right. Yum. Salmon, new spuds, salad and (for me, anyway) the star of the show: broccoli salad with a sweet red vinegar dressing with raisins and sunflower seeds.

Blackmore Broccoli Salad
2 florets of broccoli
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tblsp red wine vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1. Mix mayo, vinegar and sugar together until smooth.
2. Pour over broccoli, sunflower seeds and raisins. (Add sauce immediately before serving. *Do not marinade.*)
Num num num. We’ve already had a go at recreating this from (beer-inducedly hazy) memory, but it’s well cool to have the official skinny!
